Roulette

There is something insidiously attractive about the game of roulette. The house advantages are high, the betting combinations are limited, and the odds are skewed yet many people flock to this game day in and day out. And because of online casinos, roulette is more popular than ever.

Roulette started out as a carnival game, and remains a carnival game. First off, there are two types of wheels; one is European and the other American. What’s the difference one might ask; The European wheel has only one zero, while the American has a zero and a double zero. The American wheel increases the house odds to 5.26 %.

Another fact about roulette is there are 38 numbers, 1 through 36, plus the zero and the double zero. If you were to bet on a single number the odds are 37:1 against you. Now the interesting part of this little deal is if you were to hit a single number the house only pays out 35:1.

There are several combination bets that will increase your odds of winning but the house gains on every bet because they do not pay out what the bets are worth. So why is this game so popular? One reason is that it is deceptively simple, it seems like one can gain a sizeable return on a bet but the house wins much more than it loses.

If you love to have fun at the online casino, then try out roulette but if you are serious about gambling then you might want to play an online casino game with a lower house edge.
