The Only Bad Bet in RouletteDid you know that there is really only one bad bet when you are playing online roulette? The house edge when you play on the European wheel is 2.7% on all of the bets and it is 5.26% when you play on the American wheel. So what is that one bad bet? Let’s take a look. The one bad bet is the Top Line bet or the Five-Number bet. It is where you are betting on the five numbers of 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. It is only available on the American wheel and instead of the house holding a 5.26% edge it goes up to 7.3% on this wager. You might think that betting on a single number is a bad bet in roulette but that is really not true. The house edge on all of the best except the previous mentioned Top Line bet is 5.26% on the American wheel. It is 2.7% on every bet you make on the European wheel. If you can find a European wheel that offers the en prison rule you can reduce the house edge on even money bets to just 1.35% so keep that in mind as well. When you play online roulette try and find an American wheel if possible, but if not, make sure and avoid playing the worst bet in roulette, the Top Line bet. |
